The region encompasses the lower Delmarva peninsula from the Maryland line on the North, to Cape Charles on the South, including both Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay shorelines. This is our favorite region for a number of reasons. First, the area is not crowded, even during the height of the summer season. The Cape Charles area can be a beehive of angling activity during May and so can Chincoteague during the summer. None-the-less, it is easy to escape the cluster of boats around these areas. Within minutes you can be transported back into peace and solitude. Second, anglers have both the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean in close proximity. If the fishing is slow on the ocean side, the action is probably hot on the bay side. On any given day, the reverse may also hold true. The area is a quick 45 to 50 minute ride from Norfolk or Virginia Beach, about 2.5 to 3 hours from Richmond, and about 4 to 5 hours from Washington D.C. by car.
