The Virginia Fall Line is a transition zone between Virginia's coastal plain and the rolling hills of the Piedmont. The James and Rappahannock Rivers change from broad, slow moving waterways to rocky swift flowing streams with intermittent rapids. The cities of Richmond and Fredericksburg lye directly on the Fall Line. Virginia's Fall Line region offers fresh water fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, huge catfish and pan fish. As an added bonus, salt water species like rockfish (stripers) and shad migrate up Fall Line Rivers during the spring to spawn.
